What I collect, why I collect it, and how it is kept. This policy applies to this website and to the engagements run through Lunar Accounting CPA.
What I collect
When you submit an inquiry through this site, I collect the name, email address, phone number, preferred contact method, and details you choose to provide. If we begin an engagement, I will also collect the financial records and supporting documents you share with me to do the work.
How I use it
Your contact details are used only to respond to your inquiry and to discuss a potential engagement. Financial records are used to prepare your books, returns, and reports. Nothing you share through this site is sold or shared with third parties for marketing.
Where it lives
Inquiry submissions are stored in the application database behind your account. Engagement records are held in the accounting software and secure document tools I use to do the work, not on this website.
How long I keep it
Inquiry records that do not lead to an engagement are removed within a reasonable period. Records tied to an engagement are retained for the period required by CPA Ontario and federal and provincial tax authorities.
Security
Access to inquiry and engagement records is restricted to me as the CPA responsible for the file. I use read-only bank feeds for reconciliation and do not hold bill-pay authority over your accounts.
Your rights
You may ask what contact information I hold about you and request that it be corrected or removed. For engagement records, retention is governed by professional and tax-law requirements, which I will explain if you ask.
